"JOSEPH SMITH IS A FRAUD! A FALSE PROPHET! A DECEIVER!" I remember distinctly believing those words while I held the book of Mormon in my hand. I didn't know much about Mormonism but I sure knew I didn't want anything to do with it. It was a late night back in 2006. What happened next is difficult to put into words. A very distinct feeling came over me. It was that of reverence and solitude. All of the sudden I felt a sense of guilt. For at that very moment I believe I saw him for who he truly was in the eyes of God! That of a righteous man who truly devoted his life to the teachings of Jesus Christ and earnestly with the utmost faith did call upon the Father according to the scriptures, and he did in reality speak to him! Yes even a chosen vessel, an instrument in the Lord's work!
Like the 12 apostles and countless other prophets, he fulfilled both scriptures of: "Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city (Matthew 23:34) "Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute" (Luke 11:49)
If the above statement is true, which we as a church believe....Then of course Lucifer himself would do whatever in his power to stop the children of God from progressing.
